Third Spaces
Building Relationships Beyond the Market
Ali (in the middle) our Founder & Co-Executive Director with community at our last Third Spaces Event on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
Third Spaces is a gathering series that nurtures deeper connections between farmers, buyers, and community-rooted food systems. Co-hosted by Feed Black Futures, Agroecology Commons, and Southwest Regional Food Business Center. Bringing together Black and Brown farmers with values-aligned markets, food hubs, and restaurants to strengthen local economies through trust, reciprocity, and collective care.
Each Third Spaces event creates an environment where farmers and market representatives can meet, share stories, and explore collaborations that go far beyond typical transactions. Farmers receive stipends to honor their time and labor, everyone shares a meal, healing modalities are made available, and the focus is on building long-term, non-extractive relationships that support sustainable farming and food sovereignty.
These gatherings weave together art, music, and ritual to remind us that food justice is cultural. It’s about belonging, joy, and community expression. By creating spaces for genuine connection, Third Spaces helps strengthen the ecosystem that keeps our communities nourished and thriving.
